Cloud9 announces official Valorant roster with Vice as fifth member

Heads up, Cloud9 fans! The famous eSports organization announced their official Valorant roster with the addition of Daniel ‘vice’ Kim as the fifth member.

This confirms vice’s official addition to the team after impressive trial stages.

Familiar face

After playing multiple events as a part of their squad, Vice is now officially joining C9’s Valorant team.

The news has been confirmed in an official video announcement on the C9 YouTube channel:

“At long last, Cloud9 VALORANT has our fifth. Please join us in welcoming Vice to the C9 VALORANT Roster!”

Vice’s presence in the eSports scene isn’t anything new to loyal C9 fans. In fact, the player was a part of C9’s Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team for a short while before he made the transition to Valorant— Riot Games’ rising new eSport.

Kim says in a statement:

“Switching to Valorant mainly because after four years of competing in professional CSGO, I grew a little stale with CSGO and I wanted to start a new chapter.”

The newest member of the squad will be on Cypher, a Valorant agent that has a talent for information gathering and sniffing out the other team’s plan before any attempt at a proper execution.

Support role

Vice is looking to play a “supportive” role in the team, helping high-fragging players like Tyson ‘TenZ’ Ngo and Skyler ‘Relyks’ Weaver.

Speaking about his support-focused position, he explains:

“I fulfill a support role… I try to help facilitate strategies and the set-up on defense. Basically fill in all the gaps we need to fill to win a round.”

Before he officially signed as a member of the Valorant team, he was initially seen playing Sage as a stand-in player with ‘Prospects’ in the Ignition Series.

With C9, however, he’s been on Cypher in most cases. Omen and Breach also comes online in rare instances.

C9 fans seem to be thrilled to see Vice on the official Valorant roster:

“LET’S GO!!! I missed Vice! This roster sounds sick now pog”

“Welcome Back Vice, 2019 was a rocky roster for C9 CSGO but I’m happy that you’re back in C9 Valorant and giving it your best <3" C9's Valorant team hasn't been able to claim the championship in recent plays, but the roster has been a major talking point when it comes to competitive plays so far. Vice's most recent appearance with Cloud9 was in the Pittsburgh Knights Invitational Gauntlet Series. The group managed to score a perfect 3-0 initially, but were later knocked down to the lower bracket during the first round. C9 still had an impressive run throughout the elimination rounds, only stopped short of the Finals after losing to Team SoloMid 13-6. The team is composed of impressive talents, that's for sure. Fans need to look out for every player on the roster, from rushers/attackers to role players like Vice. Cloud9's official Valorant roster composes of:

  • Tyson ‘TenZ’ Ngo
  • Skyler ‘Relyks’ Weaver
  • Mitch ‘mitch’ Semago
  • Josh ‘shinobi’ Abastado
  • Daniel ‘vice’ Kim
