PewDiePie Describes Animal Crossing: New Horizons as “Stressful” and Here’s Why

While many collectively agree how Animal Crossing: New Horizons has brought them the relaxation and calmness they need— it seems like it’s not always the case, at least to YouTube superstar Pewdiepie.

He shared his thoughts over the most talked-about game in a recent upload, which came off rather surprising.

Fun and Relaxing, Until It’s Not

In his YouTube video uploaded last April 15, Pewds was playing the game due to a friend’s recommendation. His wife, Marzia, is also revealed to have been playing the game for quite a while now.

Although the YouTuber was getting the hang of the hyped Switch title, he began to share his honest thoughts on the game:

“When Jack [Jacksepticeye] told me about this game, he was like, ‘Oh, Animal Crossing, you should play it. It’s so fun and relaxing.’ No it’s not!”

Contrary to popular belief, Pewdiepie believes Animal Crossing can be a source of stress.

Liar, Liar

To Pewds, anyone who claims Animal Crossing is “relaxing” can be considered as a liar.

The talked-about game has been met with praise and hype across online communities. In fact, Animal Crossing: New Horizons dominated the gaming conversations on Twitter in the second half of March 2020.

The social media platform saw a 71% increase in gaming conversation which the title is partly to thank for.

Animal Crossing has been branded as the relaxing game everyone needs to play amid the pandemic, but Pewdiepie believes otherwise:

“The game has mortgages and it has stock markets.”

He explained before turning his focus back to the turnip game.

Infamous Easter Event

And since he played the title recently, Pewds was automatically made a part of the on-going Easter event.

“And don’t even get me started on the stress with Easter…”

“Imagine you’re playing an RPG and you’re trying to level up. But all of a sudden the game introduces RPG Easter Mode and then everything that gets you experience points are cut in half because instead you get eggs.”

The game’s Easter Celebration or “Bunny Day” is notoriously a stressful event for many members of the gaming community.

Some are outraged by the number of eggs they were getting, until the event ended (for good) on April 12.

A+ Game

According to Metacritic, New Horizons has been met with good reviews from fans. It has a total rating of 91 and 102 reviews so far.

The game also sold like hotcakes in many countries including Japan, where it officially became the country’s fastest-selling Switch title. ACNH’s success beat the likes of iconic game Super Smash Bros Ultimate.

Suffice to say, Pewdiepie seemed to at least enjoy his time playing Animal Crossing even with the stress of the stock market, mortgages c/o Tom Nook, and the never-ending eggs.

He also visited Marzia’s beautiful island, much to the awe of many fans:

“the fact that you’re sitting here playing animal crossing with your wife, is honestly the most wholesome thing i’ve seen. im so happy for u guys”

“This was the cutest thing and really brightened up my day. Marzia’s island is literally amazing and no, I don’t think she cheated, she’s just really invested in it and good at decorating!”

“Felix n Marzia playing animal crossing together is the cutest thing I’ve seen in a while”

If that isn’t Relationship Goals, we don’t know what is!
