BLAST will host VALORANT Ignition Series event on Sept. 11

A three-day tournament is coming your way, Valorant enthusiasts!

The VALORANT Ignition Series event hosted by BLAST on September 11 will feature some of the most notable eSports organizations such as G2 Esports, FunPlus Phoenix, Ninjas in Pyjamas, and Team Liquid.

Final installment

BLAST, a Danish tournament organizer, is slated to expand into the competitive VALORANT scene for the final installment of the Ignition Series.

Called as “The BLAST VALORANT Twitch Invitational,” the event will include four of the top teams in the European region for a €50,000 ($59,000) prize pool.

Competitive rosters from G2 Esports, FunPlus Phoenix, Ninjas in Pyjamas, and Team Liquid will face each other in a best-of-three double-elimination bracket. The winners will then try to outplay each other in a best-of-five grand final.

Where to watch The BLAST VALORANT Twitch Invitational?

For those who are interested to watch the event, it will be broadcasted exclusively on Twitch this weekend starting from Friday, Sept. 11 to Sunday, Sept. 13.

It will feature an upper and lower bracket, with FunPlus Phoenix battling it out against Ninjas in Pyjamas, and G2 versus Team Liquid in the early stages of the tournament.

The caster team includes big names such as Mitch McBride, Freya Spiers, Tombizz, and James Banks. Total prize pool of the event is around $59 thousand (€50 thousand), with the victorious team bringing home $29,560.

Participating teams

It’s not the first time for the participating teams to fight it out with each ther. In fact, they have already faced off twice before. Once was the Allied Esports Odyssey and the other during the LVL Clash 2 Ignition Series.

G2 Esports successfully proved they are currently the best team in the competitive Valorant scene in both events.

Other teams: Ninjas in Pyjamas, FunPlus Phoenix and Team Liquid will definitely want to take this chance to finally defeat G2.

Community-first

Nicolas Estrup, BLAST director of product and experience, revealed the drive behind the invitational in a recent press release:

“VALORANT has enjoyed record-breaking success since its launch in June and has fast become a fan-favorite.”

“We look forward to showing the community what BLAST can bring to the table with our industry-leading production and popular fan-first approach. This tournament will be the final Ignition Series for European teams and will give viewers the platform to watch some of the world’s best VALORANT talent go head-to-head.”

Stuart Wettenhall, Twitch Senior Business Development Manager, also said in a statement:

“Valorant has been embraced wholeheartedly by our first-person shooter community on Twitch around the world. From the best talent through to co-streaming in multiple languages, we hope to deliver a truly unique, live, interactive and engaging experience to this global fanbase.”

BLAST is primarily known for its global CS:GO competitions, hosting the Blast Pro Series and the Blast Premier.

However, this marks the first time for BLAST to host an exclusive Valorant event, having partnered with Twitch and Riot Games.

Organizers have only recently expanded to other titular games, spearheading a Bounty Hunt event for Dota 2 in May and now The BLAST VALORANT Twitch Invitational.
