#TeamTrees Crowdfunding Campaign Meets Goal of $20 Million in 55 days

In only 55 days, Mr Beast and Mark Rober’s famed #TeamTrees project successfully met its goal of raising $20 Million To Plant 20 million trees.

Back in late October, Youtubers MrBeast (Jimmy Donaldson) and Mark Rober shared to the rest of the world their ambitious fundraiser project to help the environment.

Although not impossible, the target amount was rather challenging to achieve even with their combined audiences.

Thanks to the overwhelming support of the Youtube community and donors from leading tech platforms, the project even surpassed its $20 Million goal with two weeks left on the clock.

MrBeast, an established internet philanthropist, took it to Twitter to express his glee over the success of the green movement:

“We did it!! Thank you so much to the over 500,000 different people that donated and the hundreds of influential people that promoted the campaign!

Teamtrees was more than planting 20 million trees, it was a movement that shows we care and we want to make change.”

The tree-planting initiative is scheduled to begin in January of 2020, with a target accomplishment date of having all trees planted by December 2020.

An official representative from Arbor Day told The Verge in an exclusive scoop that #TeamTrees’ 20 million trees will absorb and store 1.6 million tons of carbon, and will remove 115,00 tons of chemical air pollution.

The impressive $20 million accomplishment by #TeamTrees is likely one of the fatest environmental funding initiatives that has met its goal.

Famous icons and celebrities such as Ninja, Marshmello, Jeffree Star, jacksepticeye, The Try Guys, iJustine, Marques Brownlee, Kati Morton, and John and Hank Green were vocal in supporting the initiative.

The project raised more than $50,000 within the first 30 minutes of its launch. On October 30, it also garnered the attention of Elon Musk, the brain behind Tesla, who donated a whopping $1 million.

It doesn’t stop there.

After Musk’s donation was a series of massive pledges to contribute to the green initiative.

YouTube’s CEO, Susan Wojcicki, personally donated $200,000. Shopify’s CTO, Jean-Michel Lemieux, gave $100,100. Salesforce co founder and CEO Marc Benioff put in $900,000. GitHub developer Scott Chacon gave $250,001, and Verizon’s Green Team contributed $200,000.

Even Twitter co founder and CEO Jack Dorsey chipped in a total of $350,000

To edge out Musk as top contributor, Shopify CEO Tobias Lütke donated just enough at $1,000,001.

Some creators from the Youtube community turned out to be top contributors, as well.

Donaldson himself donated twice, once giving $100,000, and then $100,001. Theodd1sout gave $33,333, jacksepticeye donated $20,000, Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins and wife Jessica contributed $15,000, and Cristine Rotenberg of Simply Nailogical gave $12,000.

Mark Rober and Jeffree Star also separately contributed $50,000.
