Are you in favor of having left hand view models available on Valorant? The good news is, the feature will be coming to the game soon.
Riot Games finally outlined a plan to add left-hand view models to the 5v5 tactical shooter, after dodging queries about the matter for a while.
The feature’s absence in Valorant has been noted by some avid players who could greatly benefit from the switched model.
Similar CS:GO feature
The left-hand view model is a known feature from another FPS Counter-Strike Global Offensive (CS:GO), which is well-received by many players.
In the latest Ask Valorant blog post, Riot finally spoke about implementing a similar feature after the community expressed the desire to see it on Valorant.
The devs outlined a concrete plan to introduce the feature to the game, revealing that they have been doing some exploration into it.
“We’re currently in the process of validating how this would work from not just a technical side but from a competitive and artistic front as well. While this may seem like a small technical challenge, we want to make sure this is done right for players.”
The method to implement the feature isn’t as simple as flipping the x-axis code, the dev team will also have to take into consideration the various weapon skins and Agent abilities to fit in with the flipped view model.
Riot will also have to consider how the character models will look in game as the feature is being enabled.
“We don’t frequently get to see different camera views of our first person weapons and viewarms so we’ll need to make sure our art still holds up when we switch hands for players.”
Competitive integrity is also another crucial factor to be considered as they implement the said feature, making sure that playing with either left or right view model is fair and balanced for everyone.
“We want to ensure that there are no advantages or disadvantages to playing with a left-handed view model and that we maintain a fair competitive playing field. We want to make sure that left-hand view isn’t the new meta or that players with this preference aren’t nerfed.”
When will the feature be implemented?
Sadly, there’s no definite time frame yet on when players can expect the availability of left-hand view models in the game since the devs will still go through a “rigorous competitive and artistic testing” stage.
Left-hand view models have been a signature feature of CS:GO, which puts the gun model on the left hand side of the screen.
The favorite feature has been around in the titular FPS title for decades, with players enjoying the freedom to swap view models as they deem fit.
The advantage of the placement boils down on how a player viewers the game. While most people are dominant on their right side, others are left-side dominant— which the left-hand view model can be of great help.
