New Valorant map Icebox to be included in Act 3

If you’re one of those players who are itching to play on a brand new map on Valorant, the good news is— a new Icey map is coming over to the game shortly.

Hopefully, your favorite Agents are ready to take on an unknown territory, the Tundra.

Riot Games recently confirmed that a new map named ‘Icebox’ will be included in Valorant’s upcoming Act 3. The map is set in the wintery tundra, which also makes it the fourth map added to the rotation.

Highly-requested

The addition of a new map is something that has been highly-requested by the Valorant community. It has been one of the most favorite features that has been frequently requested of the devs.

After the Ascent map in Act 1, players are patiently waiting for a new map to be added to the rotation, considering the usual Split, Bind, Haven and Ascent has grown rather stale to many.

Finally, the wait is over! On Valorant’s Act 3, which is slated to launch on October 13, Icebox will be officially added to Valorant’s map rotation— making it the fifth one thus far.

Icebox is heavily based in a blistery tundra, taking your favorite Agents into a brand new territory, the cold.

The ice-cold and tightly-packed setting made fans draw similar comparisons with Call of Duty’s Cargo map and Overwatch’s Antarctica map.

A sneak peek of the map is featured in a map reveal video on the official Valorant YouTube channel.

“Dig your enemies a powdery grave in VALORANT’s new map, Icebox.

Take on the tundra when Icebox drops with Act III.”

Fans are all hyped at the confirmation of a new map for the next Act:

“This is what the game industry needs. They heard the community and prioritized releasing a new map early. Riot you have my respect.”

“Now this, is what good developers are. They listen to the community and are extremely transparent about many things. Continue a great work, Riot!”

“Gotta give huge credits to Riot / Valorant for actually listening to the community and not stubbornly following a fixed schedule.”

Possible game modes

Players may be able to play the classic Spike-Defuse game mode, Spike Rush and FFA Deathmatch on the tightly-packed Icebox map.

The map will push Agents to be caught in a blizzard, with a ship full of containers being stranded around.

The reveal video also shows how the map offers verticality like no other— enabling players to traverse zip-wires to get to specific regions on the map.

The surface of Icebox may appear to be compact and rigid, but there’s actually both indoor and outdoor spaces included.

In particular, only a small mid section of containers is what separates both Attackers and Defenders in their opposing spawns.

This will then provide the perfect avenue for various types of gunfights and different engagements.

The map is influenced by verticality like never before on Valorant, so players will have to approach both Attack and Defense while keeping that in mind.

Specific ability usage of some Agents will be the primary key to keeping a hold and taking control of important areas on the map.

The addition of Icebox will also give a wider map pool for professional Valorant eSports players, hence they can now take on best-of-five matches without the need to repeat maps.

Aside from the brand new Icey map, another Agent is also expected to debut in Future Earth on Act 3. Plenty of new content await Valorant players as the new Act approaches!
