100 Thieves welcomes CS:GO vet Steel as latest addition to Valorant roster

After weeks of fan speculation, CS:GO vet Steel’s addition to the official 100 Thieves Valorant roster has been confirmed.

The eSports organization completely dismantled their Valorant line-up, deciding to rebuild around Hiko and nitr0 instead.

Here comes the latest addition to the team: former CS:GO champ steel, who is considered as the highly-touted free agent at the moment.

100 Thieves’ latest Valorant roster is shaping out to be a star-studded line-up to watch out for!

Retirement

Joshua ‘steel’ Nissan is a superstar in the professional CS:GO scene, having achieved championship glory since 2010. However, he announced his retirement from the titular FPS game to pursue Riot’s tactical shooter instead.

Since then, fans have wondered which team would sign steel’s competitive abilities. Many guessed he would join T1, considering the group recently dropped two players from its roster. Turns out, it’s 100 Thieves who have recruited steel to their line-up.

The eSports organization confirmed the announcement in a tweet:

“Announcing the newest addition to our VALORANT roster: Steel.

@JoshNissan is an incredibly skilled & talented player from the Counter-Strike scene. We’re so excited to start a new chapter of his competitive career with him in VALORANT. Welcome to 100 Thieves! #100T”

100 Thieves’ Valorant roster is captained by Spencer ‘Hiko’ Martin. With steel’s addition, the team now boasts a reputable trio alongside Nicholas ‘nitr0’ Cannella.

After a series of underwhelming performances, 100T dropped Alfred ‘Pride’ Choi, Diondre ‘YaBoiDre’ Bond, Zachary ‘Venerated’ Roach, and Keane ‘Valliate’ Alonso from their line-up and brought in nitr0.

Valorant fans and gaming enthusiasts wondered when would 100 Thieves announce their new official roster. The news of Steel joining the team finally put these speculation to an end.

Now, 100 Thieves’ current Valorant line-up is one of the most promising and star-powered, with Hiko and nitr0’s successful, multi-championship CS:GO career track record.

Confirmed rumor

At the start of September, rumors circulated across many online communities that steel was deciding offers from both 100 Thieves and T1.

Both teams would be ideally scouting for new recruits, given their current roster space, especially after T1 released Austin ‘crashies’ Roberts and Victor ‘food’ Wong from their team on September 3.

Steel already played with T1 Valorant’s Braxton ‘brax’ Pierce, Keven ‘AZK’ Lariviere, and Tyler ‘Skadoodle’ Latham on iBUYPOWER’s CS:GO roster in the past, before the infamous ban from competition for the match-fixing incident.

Some supporters are likely to be disappointed to know steel won’t be joining the T1 roster for a highly-anticipated iBP reunion, but 100 Thieves fans are excited by the latest acquisition.

Many generally expressed a lot of excitement in response to the official announcement tweet:

“This squad bouta make moves. Grats grats ❤️💯”

“This team is shaping up nicely ! Can’t wait to see you guys in action!”

“I am so happy for this new roster. This time they are actually taking the time to go through and make 100 thieves the best it can be”

“A great addition to the team! What a steal!”
