FaZe Clan Member Suspended for Using Racial Slur On Stream

Of course, actions have consequences — especially if you’re a public figure like a streamer.

Daniel “Dubs” Walsh is under massive scrutiny as he was heard saying a racial slur while on stream. The 16-year-old Fortnite star is receiving backlash across various online communities, leaving fans and followers torn over his insensitive use of a slur.

He has since been suspended from representing his affiliated organization FaZe clan “indefinitely” as a result of his actions.

FaZe Clan writes in an official statement:

“FaZe Clan will not tolerate any form of hate speech.”

“It is imperative for us to foster an inclusive environment in this community. We are requiring Dubs to go through sensitivity training, and proactively requiring all FaZe Clan members to go through sensitivity training immediately.”

In case you missed it, here’s a clip of Dubs’ friend and fellow streamer who was playing Fortnite Creative Boxfights when the 16-year-old streamer was heard blurting out the slur.

His friend was taken aback and clearly informed Dubs that he was live.

Dubs was quick to issue his personal apology on social media. Fortunately, many pro players responded with kindness and understanding over the teenager’s actions.

“I can’t even describe how sorry I am.”

“I did not intend to be hurtful in any way but what I said was still hurtful, insensitive, and wrong. The word shouldn’t have been in my vocabulary, and I apologize from the bottom my heart to everyone I offended by using it.”

Even 100 Thieves’ Davis “Ceice” McClellan and Diego “Arkhram” Lima expressed support for the young pro under fire.

Fans of the young Fortnite star may have to wait a while for any updates on his return to the esteemed org!

He may have to take a while from representing FaZe at competitions or any streaming-related activities.

Some fans simply want to move on and forget about the incident, considering he’s a teen that has a lot of learning to do:

“stop trying to career cancel the dude .. yes, the word shouldn’t be in his vocabulary but the damage has been done. he owned up to it, move on.”
“everyone makes mistakes, that’s why pencils have erasers. just learn from it”
“Aight dont say the N word again or the community will cancel you”

Meanwhile, others remain skeptical about Dubs’ rather “half-assed” apology.

“only sorry because you got exposed… YAWN”
“Hes probably said it so many times and will continue to… but he’ll make sure no ones streaming next time”
“Let this be anyone else & they would never hear the end it. I’m shocked to how many people are saying it’s okay…. because it’s not. At 17 you should know that word is insensitive.”
