KSI is Taking a Break from Boxing until 2021

Seems like KSI will pause all boxing-related endeavors until 2021.

The Youtuber-turned-pro boxer decided to step back from the sport, shortly after Jake Paul challenged him to a fight following the defeat of his older brother (Logan Paul).

KSI, or Olajide Olayinka Williams “JJ” Olatunji, successfully made a name for himself in the boxing world after beating fellow content creator Joe Weller.

After his triumphant win by technical knockout — 1 minute and 30 seconds into the third round, he then called out the Paul brothers if any of them were interested in a match.

A fierce rivalry then began between the three Youtubers. KSI and Logan Paul, in particular, has met twice in the ring for the last two years.

Their first match was on August 5, 2018 where it ended up in a controversial draw.

KSI claimed victory versus Logan Paul in their November 9 rematch, though. Many fans believe that marks the end of the Paul-KSI feud but alas, Jake Paul comes into the picture.

Perhaps coming to take a stand for his brother, Jake began to express his desire to meet KSI inside the ring himself. He calls for revenge on his big bro’s devastating loss.

It made headlines among various online news outlets, speculating an upcoming KSI vs Jake Paul match sometime this year.

Jake notably called out KSI after his win over his older brother, with the two coming face-to-face after Jake’s January 30 boxing win.

However, after KSI decided to take a step back away from his boxing-related activities— this highly awaited match may not be taking place anytime soon.

The British sensation revealed his plans in an interview with On Demand Entertainment in March.

It seems like 2020 is going to be a busy week for the Youtuber! He noted how his upcoming tour schedule and plans to release new music are keeping him too busy to focus on physical training.

However, KSI is not entirely saying goodbye to boxing. He even confirmed that he’d hop back into the ring sometime around 2021.

“Definitely next year… Right now, [I’m] music-focused. But yeah, after the album and all that… after we get all of that done, then yeah, of course.”

The news may come out as a surprise among KSI fans, given his successful track record on the sport so far, but it’s no wonder how the star also has to make time for pursuing a career in  music.

Fellow Youtuber and boxing trainer Viddal Riley also made a similar statement in late February.

“JJ’s booked for too many tours already, too many festivals.”

“There is no time for training, and I told him don’t take anyone lightly. Don’t come off of your tour and think you’re just gonna get into camp and fight Jake. You lock off your music. You lock-off everything and then talk.”

Although Jake Paul seems like he’s ready to throw hands inside the ring, he may have to do some waiting for the chance to box it out with the British personality.

Fans are always on the lookout for an inevitable conclusion to the rivalry between the Paul bros and KSI.

So, whose side are you betting to win?
