On October 17, Youtube star Pewdiepie dropped the teaser for his new game: Pewdiepie’s Pixelings.
The 8-bit game features Pewds dressed in a purple jester costume, complete with a magical summoning circle, spellbooks, and candles around him – which suggests the involvement of sorcery. He then greets the players: welcome to Pixeland!
The game suggests an adventure genre, complete with different locations for players to explore and unlock.
In the trailer, the 8-bit Pewds continues on to battle what it seems to be evil barrels, with a HP and mana bar to indicate if you are close to defeating these monsters.
It’s also interesting to note how the character’s sidekicks are called Pixelings. They are hatchable creatures in another Pewdiepie game, Pewdiepie: Tuber Simulator.
These creatures are known to be hatched from Pixelling eggs, which come in common, golden, diamond, or prism variation.
In Pixeland however, it hasn’t been clarified yet whether players will grow their own pixelings to get as sidekick.
Many pixeling sidekicks can help Pewds in his journey. Bob, a peach colored hero much to the likes of Majin Buu, and Stephano, an oldie but trusty samurai covered in gold.
Behind this game is the Outerminds team, who also developed PewDiePie’s Tuber Simulator, PewDiePie’s: Legend of the Brofist, Tadpole Tap and H3H3: Ball Rider.
They took it to Twitter to express their excitement over the new collaboration:
The Outerminds team is proud to finally share our latest project, PewDiePie’s Pixelings!
While we’re at it, we’ll cut you a deal, it’s free!
Fans are excited to try out Pewd’s new game, especially now that it’s been revealed to be free to download. Currently, the teaser trailer has over 3K retweets and 52K likes.
One user replied, “OK, I like your look in the game. And it brings back the old feels of Mario and Plants vs Zombies”
While another eager fan said: “Beautiful animation, Amazing level design, stunning graphics, and snappy sound effects! This game looks amazing!! The backgrounds are so rich of color and amazing!!!”
And many others expressing how they love the seemingly nostalgic musical score and how they can’t wait to play this game.
The release date of Pewdiepie’s Pixelings seem to remain as a mystery. Fans may have to continue waiting for a while to get to play this amazing game.
Pewdiepie ends the announcement by inviting players to join his discord channel dedicated to the game.
