Pokimane comes out of the closet in a controversial tweet?

Famous Twitch streamer Pokimane seemed to have stirred the online community in a controversial, 3-word tweet:

i love girls

The said tweet has over 6K retweets and 81.6k likes as of writing.

Imane “Pokimane” Anys can’t seem to avoid controversy. As a leading poster image for “gamer girl”, she is a famous content creator, gamer, and streamer who has successfully built a large online following.

She currently has 4 million subscribers on her Youtube channel and over 3.5 million followers on Twitch.

Her fans are divided over this latest firestorm. Some speculate whether this is a lowkey coming out of the closet tweet, but others advise not to read too much on it.

One user replied to her controversial statement:

Girls are so hot

In agreement, Pokimane echoed the sentiment:

so true…

This got her fans worked up. Some are curious to find out if this was Anys’ way of letting her fans know her orientation.

“Is this a confession?”
“😳 I didn’t know you felt that way Poki…”
“so you’re saying i have a chance? POGGERS”

However, there’s also a possibility that it may only be a random tweet taken out of context and blown out of proportion.

Fellow streamer and close friend “Valkyrae” replied to her original tweet:

“❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ we all got eachother”

To which Anys replied:

“ilysm 🥺”

This mysterious tweet got many fans speculating, but Pokimane is yet to clarify her intention behind it.

It’s unlikely that she will though, considering the streamer has been embroiled in controversy since an incident in late 2018 where she issued copyright strikes against videos that she didn’t agree with. She also had a history of mocking a fan that made clickbait videos of her live on stream.

It may be a simple tweet to express her love for her girl friends (who by the way, are with her in Tokyo at the time of writing for an impromptu and fun-filled trip to Japan) or it may be a clever coming out of the closet tweet.

Only time, and Pokimane can tell!
