Stardew Valley Creator Announces Two New Projects

Stardew Valley is considered an indie classic. The farming/life simulator sold 10 million copies at the beginning of 2020.

Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone first worked on the game back in 2012, and now it is made available for all current consoles, PC and mobile. Stardew Valley has been expanded and refined to the addictive game it is today.

When it was announced that two new games related to the Stardew Valley universe are in-the-works, fans went crazy.

He confirmed in a tweet on February 11 that he was “working on a couple of new projects”, answering a fan who asked if there’d be future games set within the Stardew Valley universe.

Further adding:

“One takes place in the world of Stardew Valley, but is not a farming game. The other, I’m not 100% sure about the world yet, but it will tie into Stardew Valley in some way.”

As early as 2017, Barone teased a new Stardew Valley-related game idea up his sleeve.

However, it wasn’t until this confirmation that gave fans the proof they need: two games are indeed in production phase.

ConcernedApe has then urged for the internet to calm down after the announcement, noting how he’s not looking to make anything that rivals the amazing success of the titular farming/life simulator game.

“All I ask is please don’t get too hyped at this stage. I want to avoid too much hype or speculation. I’d like to just make whatever game comes naturally to me without too much pressure or expectation.”

He also clarified that he is not aiming to make the next indie smash hit, instead, he wants to work on a game he enjoys and is happy with.

“I’m not setting out to make the next indie smash hit, I just want to make another game that I enjoy and am happy with. And to share some of my art & ideas with the world. If it becomes popular, I will be happy, but it’s not my focus”

Other fans were supportive and echoed Barone’s sentiments regarding some badgering him for a new game real quick:

“We love Stardew Valley because it was truly a labor of love. You spent your time on it and it paid off with an amazing game. Please take your time and enjoy what you do.”
“Bro, whatever u gonna do, u will do it great cause u have a great talent. Take ur time, make things as u want, and take my fucking money”
“whatever it is we’re going to love it and support you any way we can”

Players may have to wait a while for any updates about these new projects.

For now, though, they can continue their adventures on Stardew Valley with the assurance that ConcernedApe will come up with games he’ll be proud of creating real soon.
