JakeNBake on How He Turned Down $1M Offer by Chinese Streaming Platform

In the age of platform wars where big streaming platforms are pirating talents from one another, it’s no surprise to know how China has joined the party.

Or at least, China plans to.

In the case of rising Twitch streamer Jake “JakeNBake” Abramson, he revealed that he was offered a huge deal from Chinese streaming platform Huya.

And although he decided to turn it down, the deal is pretty hefty.

The internet star is considered as one of the most popular Twitch IRL (In Real Life) streamers on the platform.

He’s currently based in Japan, but he entertains his fans across the globe with his various adventures around Asia.

Recently, he’s been spending the majority of his time in both China and Japan.

His February 3 stream featured Jake enjoying a nice warm day outside and doing the usual, chatting with his viewers, when he decidedly brought up the topic of Huya.

Chinese streaming platform Huya was ready to offer him a whopping $1 million deal if he signs with them.

He met an official representative of the company at an event in China, who then approached him with the offer.

“If you remember, at our ChinaJoy stream last summer… a guy from Huya who wanted to poach me to stream on the platform and said they would pay me $1 million.”

He further explains, before making light of the encounter:

“We didn’t go through with that deal… maybe it’s leaked [now], but yeah they’re expanding.”

Months later, it’s evident how JakeNBake was still streaming on Twitch.

The streamer continued the details of his story, explaining how he would get a “job” at the Chinese company and why he decided to reject the offer.

“He wanted me to be a product manager for Huya in America or something. If I wasn’t streaming it would be a great opportunity… but yeah, it wasn’t enough.”

The reason for his rejection of the tempting offer wasn’t too clear, but fans were convinced how the offer wasn’t enough for the streamer to leave Twitch behind.

It’s speculated how Jake would easily earn more than $1 million if he continues to stream on Twitch. Besides, the freedom of streaming on Twitch is incomparable to being tied to a corporate day job.

This decision is a good thing for his fans, then! His viewers can continue to enjoy the variety IRL content he offers on Twitch, at least for now.

As of writing, JakeNBake currently has over 440k followers on his Twitch channel.
