Pewdiepie Deactivated his Twitter after Announcing Youtube Hiatus?

After mainstream media sensationalized his Youtube ‘break’, YouTube superstar Pewdiepie decided to officially delete all his tweets.

This decision comes after he also uploaded a Youtube video titled “I hate twitter”, where he criticized how the platform rewards moral posturing.

He used the example of J. K. Rowling retroactively changing the sexuality of canon Harry Potter characters.

The online star also is critical over Youtube’s recent changes to its harassment rules.

Just a few hours before he deleted his Twitter account, one of his last tweets proved how his “break” announcement was mischaracterized.

“Me: Im taking a break for a little while” along with a screenshot of a Daily Mirror tweet that said “BREAKING PewDiePie quits YouTube saying he’s too tired to go on”

The @pewdiepie Twitter handle is still owned by Pewds, apparently, with a bio that says:

“I dont use Twitter, this account is just to prevent fake accounts.”

Over the weekend, Felix “Pewdiepie” Kjellberg announced he was feeling very tired from his streaming activities and came up with the decision to take a break from Youtube.

Some publications were quick to mischaracterize him as quitting the platform, all for the sake of views and clout.

Kjellberg did not like how mainstream media sensationalized his break. In fact, he has taken breaks in the past to prevent burn-out.

In his “I hate twitter” video, he further explains:

“…The site has become such a cesspool of opinion,”

“People just can’t seem to help themselves from pointing out what is good and what is bad, or how others are bad and you are good, to a point where it almost becomes fiction just to satisfy this need.”

He ended the seven-minute video by saying:

“By the way, f— Twitter.”

In an earlier announcement video, Pewdiepie announced that he would take a break in 2020.

He saved the particular details for later, but said it in advance for his fans to have a “heads up”.
