Pokimane Stays with Twitch in the Midst of an On-going Streaming War

It’s confirmed, Twitch is keeping one of its biggest stars.

Imane “Pokimane” Anys recently signed a multi-year deal to stay on Amazon’s streaming platform.

The streamer has committed herself to stream exclusively on the platform, ending fan speculation that she could be moving to Mixer soon.

In the past few months, big Twitch names like Ninja, Shroud, and KingGothalion have jumped ships for rival platform Mixer.

Others such as CouRageJD and Valkyrae, on the other hand, signed deals to exclusively stream on Youtube gaming.

Today, it’s confirmed how Pokimane— one of the platform’s biggest stars— has signed a multi-year deal to stay on the platform.

However, further details about the deal were not disclosed.

The famous OfflineTV member started her streaming career back in 2013. As of writing, Pokimane has more than 3.9 million followers on her Twitch channel.

Her influence remains unparalleled, she even landed her own personal Fortnite emote to immortalize her in-game.

Anys stated in a Tweet:

“Since I began my gaming career on Twitch six years ago, the platform has given me such an incredible opportunity to create content and connect with people around the world.”

“The community of streamers on Twitch, as well as the community I’ve built around my channel, both mean so much to me. I want to continue to make a lasting impact on the world of live streaming, and I truly believe there’s no other place that has the infrastructure and tools that will allow me to do so.”

Turns out, it’s her lovely and supportive community on the platform that made her stay put.

She further reveals how she said no to other deals laid out in front of her in a recent March 5 upload.

“I won’t lie, these livestreaming exclusivity deals are big money. They’re life-changing money for any of us streamers. I got deals from many different platforms, but it really came down to just two.”

“Ultimately, I decided to take less money to stay on Twitch. I did a lot of research— on all of it: infrastructure, servers, delay. I hate streaming with a delay, chat interactions are really bad for me. I really hate long delays.”

Proving to be a true social media powerhouse, Pokimane also has a wide reach on other social media channels. She has garnered over 1.7 million followers on Twitter and 4.6 million subscribers on Instagram, in particular.

The announcement of her streaming contract renewal comes in the midst of an on-going platform war, where platforms like Twitch, Mixer, Youtube Gaming and Facebook Gaming battle it out to covet popular streaming icons.

Twitch remains to be the world’s leading live-streaming platform, but other services are stepping it up to rival Amazon’s streaming platform and gain market share.

Like Pokimane, several big names are confirmed to be staying on Twitch: DrLupo, TimTheTatman, and Lirik.

Twitch’s senior VP of content and partnerships, Michael Aragon, expressed his glee over Anys’ decision:

“Creators like Pokimane are driving the future of what’s possible with live streaming and speak to the way in which the Twitch platform has grown to reach new audiences.”

“We couldn’t be more excited that Twitch will be her home for years to come.”
