Pokimane spoke up and called out a fan for dropping “thicc” comment after a real-life meetup.
This is not the first time for the Twitch star to be labeled as “thicc”, but one fan may seem to take the comment too far after meeting up with Twitch’s number 1 female streamer IRL .
Imane “Pokimane” Anys is one of Twitch’s superstars, with more than 3.8 million followers on the channel. She’s famous for her gaming live streams (League of Legends, Fortnite – although she says she’ll take a break from the game for some time) and hilarious interactions with fans.
But despite all that, the star is also famous for a specific word that is often linked to her name on Google searches, “thicc” – which means a curvy figure.
As per Urban Dictionary, “thicc” denotes a female who has a desirable body or bodily features. Example: Pokimane’s curvy appearance.
Since Poki’s name is often searched alongside the term, a fan then used the said word to describe her after scoring a picture together – which earned an eye roll from the Twitch star.
Anys may appear to find the linked connotation humorous before, but this time, she couldn’t help but roll her eyes at the said fan who recognized her while shopping at a local mall.
She recounts the story: the fan began by asking for a photo which he posted on Instagram with the bold caption:
“Just met Poki, she’s so f*cking thicc.”
Naturally, the streamer decided to call out the viewer during a recent broadcast. Although she knew he was a fan of her Fortnite gameplay content, it wasn’t an excuse for his tactless Instagram caption.
“Bro this one time — and I knew this was a Fortnite viewer — this guy saw me at the mall, and he was like, ‘Oh my god, are you Poki? Can we take a photo?’”
“…to be fair, I was looking pretty thicc in the picture, but like…still, you know, you could be a little nicer about it.”
This isn’t the first time for Anys to speak out on the “thicc” term, too. She has addressed the matter in a Youtube video last year, noting that there has been a rise in the amount of fake photos of her flooding the internet due to her increasing popularity.
She laughingly admitted:
“There’s a particular other term that is searched alongside my name… The problem with this being the most searched term is that I’ve even seen some articles that think my last name is ‘Thicc.”
Regardless, it doesn’t seem like Pokimane will lose the connotation of the term “thicc” with her name any time.
If anything, it only cements her status as one of the most influential Twitch stars.
